Selected life timeline 2024—2026

He escaped the night calls. Then had to give himself permission to relax.

u/lifeistoughasfuck’s first year restored sleep, exercise and evenings with family. The family gets the evenings back

Life at the time

  • Had more family dinners, exercise and time to build a computer with a child.
  • Left space in the first year while rebuilding structure and identity.

How it felt

  • Deliberately allowed boredom instead of rushing into another packed calendar. “I gave myself a year to be purposefully bored”
  • Valued the time gained from leaving work. “I love the time.”

Life at the time

  • Ran two half-marathons and made room for thinking and ordinary pleasures.
  • Let some creative plans pause as other interests took precedence.

How it felt

  • Was learning to relax without treating every change of plan as failure. “It’s all good, you can relax now.”
  • Felt safer and more content, although guilt still appeared. “Third, I feel safe and content.”
