Freedom can include letting go of a mission
He became more comfortable with quiet mornings, exercise, games and small experiments. The pressure to make each pursuit succeed eased in a way he had not expected.

You can value retirement while still searching
Jim remained grateful for retirement and did not want a full-time job, even though travel and moving back to the US had not settled his search for direction.
